Westing Game allows reader to solve mystery

The Westing Game

By Ellen Raskin

Sam Westing has been killed, and it’s been by one of the people he has gathered together. One of them needs to figure out who the murderer is in order to inherit his fortune.

This is a classic locked-room mystery. All of the suspects are in one place and one has committed the crime, but the detective has to figure it out. The only twist is that Westing has set it up to be a game.

Fun for the reader to follow along with the clues to see if the identity of the murderer and the prize recipient can be deduced.

Good for middle grade readers. My students (4th-6th) really enjoyed it.
