Visconti House is good story for middle grade

The Visconti House

by Elsbeth Edgar

Laura Horton is the new kid, the strange kid in her class. She recently moved to the big, crumbling mansion (purported to be haunted). She’s been trying to fit in, but with artsy parents, her love of reading and drawing; it’s not quite working.

Leon moves in down the street. He’s an outcast also. He’s quiet with a chip on his shoulder. His father reportedly is a criminal so he was sent to live with his grandmother.

They stumble into a friendship as they research the history of the house that Laura lives in. They discover a lot about the house and a bit about themselves.

Just a nice, quiet tale of developing friendship set in a small town in Australia.

This is a good story for middle-grade readers.
