Flora & Ulysses

by Kate DiCamillo

Funny, good vocabulary words, great use of cartoons! A fun read!

Flora loves comics, her dad, and her mom. She doesn’t love that her parents are divorced, that her mom would rather her read other things, and a lamp that her mother purchased from her first royalty check for writing romance novels.

Into Flora’s life comes a squirrel which had been attack by a super strong vacuum cleaner.  Flora breathes life into the little creature. When it awakens, it has super strength and can understand Flora. (plus it can type)

Flora wants to keep the newly named Ulysses. Her mother doesn’t and orders Flora’s father to kill it because it may have diseases.

It is now Mom vs. Ulysses. It is fun and funny. Good for both boys and girls from 3rd grade up.
