Born with severe facial deformities, August (Auggie) Pullman is about to enter school for the first time. Having always been home schooled because of his many operations and illnesses, he chooses to enter fifth grade at Beecher Prep.
School social classes are never easy to navigate, and they aren’t easy for a kid who looks abnormal on the outside, but is normal on the inside. He finds himself the center of attention that he never wanted.
Told from several viewpoints, Auggie, his sister, a friend get their say.
Auggie is a kid whose bravery will inspire you. He may think he is ordinary, but you will find him extraordinary.
I know several of my students did.
For fourth grade on up.
